A radio jockey or RJ is a person who hosts a radio talk show, where he/she selects the music to be played by interacting with the audience via telephone. Lately, the term started to be associated with radio show hosts who interact online with viewers, with or without playing a song..... There are numerous media houses that have branched into the radio scene. Because of the high licensing fees and limited wave bands being made available only big, corporate houses can be found in the scene with almost no small companies and definitely no individuals in sharp contrast to Western radio where there are many small-time players. This is why there is also a great difference between being in radio abroad as compared to India. Because there are relatively fewer radio stations and RJs, Radio Jockeys tend to have a fan-following; where people will listen to their show to the exclusion of all others and RJs at times, even successfully endorse brands or products in their shows.
